We were awarded the order as the key supplier for the LTSC Slug Catcher Project by Kazakhstan Caspian Offshore Industries (KCOI) LLP. This infrastructure project involves the removal and replacement of existing slugcatchers at the Karabatan onshore plant, representing a significant investment in its long-term reliability and processing capability.  

Ensuring Weld Quality and Continuous Supply for a Critical Slug Catcher Project

For NCOC's LTSC Slug Catcher project, one of the main challenges was the consistent and timely supply of high-performance welding consumables suitable for heavy-wall, low-temperature carbon steel applications. The slug catcher's demanding service conditions required consumables with strict chemical composition and mechanical property tolerances, leaving no margin for batch-to-batch variation. Additionally, the remote site location and tight construction schedule meant that any disruption in consumable availability could halt critical welding activities, causing costly delays.

To address these challenges, we pre-qualified all consumables with NCOC's welding and materials engineers before project execution, ensuring full compliance with LTSC toughness requirements. Batch traceability was maintained from mill to site, and we provided on-call technical support to resolve any on-site welding issues immediately. As a result, we achieved zero weld rejections related to consumable performance and maintained 100% supply availability throughout the project, helping NCOC complete the slug catcher on schedule and with full integrity. 

KCOI LLP is a leading engineering and fabrication company based in Aktau, Kazakhstan serving the oil and gas, renewable energy and shipbuilding sectors across the Caspian region. The company was founded in 2008 as a joint venture between Italian Rosetti Marino Group of Companies and Kazakh's Mart Machinery Plant LLP.
